Car Tracking Rig Testing on the Horseshoe Pass – Sustainable Kit, Cinematic Results
We spent the day putting our latest piece of kit through its paces — a custom-built car tracking system that we’ve developed in-house to deliver cinematic tracking shots in a cost-effective and sustainable way.
At the heart of the setup is the DJI Ronin 4D, mounted on a custom radio-controlled head fixed to the roof of our fully electric Jaguar I-PACE. From the back seat, we control the head remotely, complete with a dedicated director’s monitor for real-time framing and coordination. It’s a lean, flexible alternative to traditional tracking vehicles — ideal for commercial work, social content, or branded car campaigns.
For our first real-world test, we hit the winding roads of the Horseshoe Pass, a stunning location near the North Wales border, filming a convoy of Land Rovers from Mahker. The conditions were perfect — moody light, rolling fog, and enough twists and gradients to push the tracking system to its limits. The footage is slick, stable, and packed with dynamic motion.
We’re proud to offer a sustainable tracking solution that doesn’t compromise on quality. It’s fully electric, solar charged via our HQ, and available for hire soon for automotive shoots, commercials, and TV work.
If you’re planning a shoot and need smooth, professional tracking vehicle footage, get in touch to be among the first to use our new rig.
