Drone Filming Over the Thames at Night – Action Film Shoot in London
Our first big shoot of 2026 took us to London’s Trinity Buoy Wharf for a fast-paced, high-profile project supporting the launch of an upcoming feature film.
Working alongside a large-scale production crew, we were tasked with capturing cinematic drone footage of a live content creator junket — a promotional event where invited creators experience scenes from a soon-to-be-released film. The footage we captured would be passed directly to the creators, who will cut their own edits to share with their audiences and help build excitement for the launch.
Operating in Central London, we faced tight airspace regulations due to our proximity to London City Airport. This meant applying for a Non-Standard Flight (NSF) permit through NATS, and coordinating directly with Air Traffic Control to reconfirm permissions an hour before take-off.
The location — Trinity Buoy Wharf — offered the perfect backdrop, with the O2 dome glowing across the River Thames and the city skyline providing a dramatic night-time canvas. We flew the DJI Mavic 4 Pro, which performed flawlessly in low-light conditions and offered precision movement for tight urban shots.
While the film’s title remains under wraps for now, this was a brilliant example of the type of branded content production we regularly support — blending tight logistics, creative execution, and strict safety requirements in challenging environments.
