Drone Filming in London – Canary Wharf, City Views & O2 Dome Action
Kicking off 2026 in style, we were back in Central London capturing cinematic drone visuals across the Thames for a major film launch event — with speedboats, skyscrapers, and the O2 dome all in the frame.
As part of a multi-day shoot for an undisclosed feature film promotion, we were brought in to capture general views (GVs) of London’s skyline — from Canary Wharf to the City of London — along with dynamic action shots and location-specific storytelling.
One of the most exhilarating elements was filming speedboats racing along the River Thames, echoing the intensity of a James Bond-style chase. The brief called for wide, cinematic shots as well as tighter, fast-tracking angles — all achieved safely using the DJI Mavic 4 Pro, renowned for its agility and image quality.
We also captured the O2 Dome from multiple angles, including stunning overheads and establishing shots across the river. A highlight of the day was filming people taking part in the dome walk experience — a perfect blend of human scale and architectural drama.
Flying in such a sensitive area — beneath the London City Airport flight path — required a Non-Standard Flight (NSF) permit from NATS, along with live coordination with Air Traffic Control to maintain clearance and timing.
This kind of shoot combines our technical flying skills with deep planning and a knowledge of London’s complex aviation zones. It’s what we love doing — creating cinematic visuals in real-world environments, safely and effectively.
