Drone Filming England Rugby Players – St Albans Shoot for Health Campaign

Back on the ground with RhodaPond, this time for a high-energy shoot featuring England rugby players on a training pitch in St Albans.

The brief was to capture a mix of cinematic drone shots and FPV racing footage as the players took on a series of physical challenges for a branded campaign in support of a health insurance company. This meant everything from close-proximity tracking to sweeping wide views — all needing to look slick, polished, and dynamic.

We flew the DJI Inspire 3 for premium broadcast-quality footage, ideal for wide establishing shots and tracking fast-paced action. Alongside that, our custom-built FPV drones brought the energy — capturing close, fast passes over the pitch and dynamic fly-throughs that placed the viewer right in the middle of the action.

It was a cold, crisp day with fast-changing conditions, but the players were up for it and the footage came together beautifully. Shoots like this are always a fun challenge — getting tight, sharp sequences with real athletes, all within the constraints of short windows and live set-ups.
